The Dingly Dell
Design 8
The Dingly Dell has recently been purchased by Mr and Mrs Taylor (my parents), it is acres and is more suitable for social events than the field in the previous design.
It has manyelements in place to attract wildlife already in place such as a stream and waterfall and a small amount of trees.
This design is to be of minimum impact for maximum benefit and will incorperate as many none permanent aditions as possible including a sweat lodge, camping area for small gatherings, an earth oven (permanent), a small herb bed and a fire pit.
In this design I have used OBREDIM and zoning as well as the following..

Problem is the solutionThere were limited funds to implement this design but the site is 60meters away from a skip yard and therefore it is easy to skip many of the items needed.
Earth careReusing rather than taking energy recycling.

Use edges and value the marginalIt could be said that the skip yard is the interface between consumers getting rid of their unwanted items and the landfill site. It is indeed a very productive area when it comes to finding free items with which to create and build. I have made a lot of use of this area in a lot of my designs (and general life!)

Boundries
All the surrounding fields are grazing for sheep and horses and nearest houses are 1/4 of a mile away.
Resources
EvaluationThere are a lot of items I can gather from the skips and the the surrounding area, I think I should be able to complete this project with £50 or under including petrol to collect straw and other materials.
£20 Herbs £10 Diesel £10 Straw bales x 4 £10 unforseen costs |
The earth oven
Alternative designs
All would be cob ovens and have a wood store underneath.
Maintainance
I will fill in the cracks on the oven when and if they occur.
Mum will maintain the herb bed with the rest of her garden.
After an event people can tidy up after themselves and therefore this should be an easily maintainable area.
